Restore a Broken Heart

James 4:1-12

If you were able to investigate the heart  of everyone you saw, you would notice a slight fracture upon just about every heart.

God created us to have a relationship with Him and others.

The Desire that Battles Within Us--vv. 1-2

The first step in restoring a broken heart is to take a good long look at the selfish desires that battle within us and work on reducing their importance.

Our Failure  to Ask God--v 2

We have made a mess of certain relational conflicts because we've tried to solve them on our own.

A Selfish  Shopping List--v 3

Our heavenly Father is not a magic genie in a lamp.

He is the Almighty God who care about our problems and our needs, but He will not gratify our sinful request to our own detriment.

Friendship with the  World--v 4

Just as a man or woman betrays his or her spouse by having physical affair, we are unfaithful to God we dabble in earthly exports.

Unfriend an Old Friend. (v. 4-6)

We are a friend to the world when we show regard for the things of the world that cause us to covet, fight, quarrel, steal, and kill.

You have to unfriend the world with all diligence and humility.

Surrender to the Proper Authority (v. 7)

To submit to God is to yield to his authority in your life.

Run, Forest , Run! (v. 8)

First is through prayer, daily asking God to restore your broken heart and workout your circumstances.

Second is by seeking out his wisdom, carving time out of your schedule to read the Bible.

Find the Fairest of Them All (v. 8-10)

in order to gain true restoration from the Lord, it is imperative that your hands and, heart and mind become free from sin.

First, confession means to acknowledge the truth about God—that He alone is truly righteous, just, holy, graceful, merciful, and forgiving.

Second is to tell the truth about ourselves that we are sinful, prideful, flawed, and prone to make mistakes.

When you choose to confess your own transgressions to God, you will be able to see the situation more clearly and accept responsibility for your part.

Hammer the Clamor (v. 11)

When you are in conflict with someone, guard your words carefully so that you do not sin be speaking evil against them.

Don’t Carry the Donkey  (v. 11-12)

When your friends, family, neighbors, and co-workers fall short of your expectations and you exact judgment, it is in contradiction of what Christ calls you to do.

The way you judge others will determine the way that your Father in heaven judges you.
