The Lie: God Gives Us Everything We Want in Life

Over time, we develop a more mature view of Santa Clause, but our view of God tends to stay very simplistic and childish.

don’t take for granted the blessings God has bestowed on you or presume to give yourself the people and things you want to have. 

God Finds Great Pleasure in Giving Gifts (Matthew 7:9-11)

He loves to give us gifts, but only that that are good and healthy for us to have, not bad and harmful.

God Gives Us Gifts He Wants Us to Have. (Psalm 127:1)

There are people who only want something for their own glory and not the glory of God.

God Gives Gifts When He Wants US to Have Them (Genesis 16:1-2)

If we trust God’s goodness and remain patient, we usually end up with the right gift at the right time and have no regrets.

God Sometimes Takes a Gift Back (Judges 16:15-17, 28-30; Luke 12:48) 

God will take certain gifts back for a period of time or permanently, if we don’t take good care of them.

God Gives Us Gifts So We Can Regift (Genesis 12:2; James 1:17)
