God Has an App to Turn Stress into Joy
James 1: 1-12
If you are struggling with things like:
Stress
Temptation
Prejudice
A dying faith
Profanity
A broken heart
Materialism
Any physical affliction
You will discover God’s peace-giving and life-changing response within His Word.
It’s as simple as a click of an icon in an app store.
In fact, this is the app store of the Bible and there is infinite power behind each topic we will examine.
Two-Things Before we Get Started
As we dive into these apps, there are two critical principles that should motivate you to understand and “download” these apps found in the book of James:
God Cares About Your Problems
God Offers Life-Changing Solutions to Your Problems
It’s interesting to note that the word “application” is defined as “the act of putting to a special use or purpose.”
Wikipedia explains that our modern-day apps are designed to “help solve problems in the real world.”
When you download God’s apps, you are putting into special purpose the truth from His Word, which will help you solve your problems in the real world!
Turn Stress into Joy
James 1:2-12
The precursor to downloading God’s app for those who are stressed is to understand and acknowledge that trials are simply an inevitable part of life.
Consider the Blessing among the Briars (v. 2)
When You Feel Stressed Out..
- Are you healthy?
- Do you have food to eat and clean water to drink?
- Do you have at least one person in your life that loves you?
- Do you serve a God that cares for you and has everything under control?
Good! Thank God for those things!
Understand that Perseverance Makes Perfect (vv. 3-4)
Something to Remember
- There will be storms in your life.
- There will be turbulence in your life.
Wise Up (v. 5)
Put Down the Ping-Pong Paddle (vv. 6-8)
Take Pride in Humility (vv. 9-11)
Have Faith in the “Latter” (v. 12)
Download Complete!
- Consider the blessing among the briars.
- Understand that perseverance makes perfect.
- Determine that it is essential to ask God for wisdom.
- Put down the Ping-Pong paddle and refuse to keep going between worry and trusting God.
- Seek humility and fully rely on God’s providence.
- Resolve to have faith in the later outcome of your stress or trial
When you are stressed, you can choose to retreat, rebel, or rejoice.
My prayer is that you will always choose to rejoice. (Phil 4:4)
